The dedicated area will see individual stands integrated into a large networking hub for meetings and presentations for up to 16 individual organisations. The participants will also feature prominently in the conference sessions and at the welcome reception at the end of the opening day.
The Government Hub is being co-ordinated by Innovate UK and will see the various departments and agencies joining together including: Department for Transport, OLEV, CCAV, Advanced Propulsion Centre, Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, Innovate UK, Highways England, Knowledge Transfer Network and Zenzic. Further agencies are expected to be joining soon.
Mark Griffin CEO, ITT Hub said
“This is fantastic news and brings together many key agencies at a pivotal time for the road transport industry. We are thrilled to have the support of these organisations, each of whom is taking part to share and collaborate.
“This news comes at a time when the government has announced its ten point green industrial revolution plan. The new target date for the cease of sales of new ICE powered vans has put net zero under the spotlight. It means that manufacturers and operators are now focused on zero emission vehicles and the clock is ticking.”
Commenting on the announcement, David Spence, Senior Programme Manager, Automotive said:
“Innovate UK is delighted to be working with the ITT Hub team on next year’s event at Farnborough. We look forward to collaborating with our partners on the Government Hub on what promises to be a really exciting new event for the transport sector”.
The organisers have also confirmed that British astronaut Major Tim Peake CMG will be opening the show on day one of the summer event. This was announced at Logistics UK’s Future Logistics Conference, where ITT Hub was one of the sponsors, which saw over 25 speakers taking part.
Mark Griffin added
“Last week, we heard the Prime Minister say that reaching our ambitious net zero goals will only be achieved through collaboration across the industry. We are proud to be playing our part in enabling industry and Government to come together next summer and it cannot come soon enough, as we are all looking forward to getting out to face to face events once more”.
